Valeri Nichushkin - Ruled out against Rangers Nichushkin (lower body) will not play in Thursday's matchup with the Rangers, Kyle Fredrickson of The Denver Gazette reports.

Impact Nichushkin has played in just eight games since returning from the Player Assistance Program and is now going to find himself watching from the sidelines again. In those eight outings, the 29-year-old winger has notched four goals and four assists, including four power-play points. Zach Parise should be a candidate for Nichushkin's second-line role.

Jean-Luc Foudy - Recalled from AHL Foudy was called up from AHL Colorado on Thursday.

Impact Foudy scored a goal in his only NHL game of the season, back on March 6. He was recalled as the Avalanche have only 11 healthy forwards, as Valeri Nichushkin is questionable with a lower-body injury. Foudy had three goals and nine points in 18 AHL games before his recall.

Joel Kiviranta - Under the weather Kiviranta missed practice due to illness ahead of Thursday's clash with the Rangers, Brennan Vogt of The-Rink.com reports.

Impact Kiviranta hasn't played for the Avs since March 13 versus Vancouver, a stretch of five games, so his illness is unlikely to significantly impact the lineup. The fact that the winger has notched just one goal in his last 39 appearances while adding just three helpers, few fantasy players will even notice his absence.

Samuel Girard - Battling illness Girard is dealing with an illness, according to Brennan Vogt of The-Rink.com, and he's questionable for Thursday's contest versus the Rangers as a result.

Impact Girard has three goals, 18 points, 68 hits and 92 blocks in 51 outings in 2023-24. If the 25-year-old can't play Thursday, then Caleb Jones will likely draw into the lineup for the first time since March 13.

Valeri Nichushkin - Questionable for Thursday Nichushkin is questionable for Thursday's game against the Rangers because of a lower-body injury, per Aarif Deen of Mile High Sports.

Impact Nichushkin has 26 goals and 50 points in 48 outings in 2023-24. His injury is not expected to keep him out long term, but if he does miss Thursday's tilt, then Zach Parise might slide into a top-six role.

Impact Drouin's recent burst of offense, which included two goals and three points in Sunday's comeback win over Pittsburgh, prompted a move to the top line Tuesday. Impact Toews gathered a loose puck that Jonathan Drouin kept in the zone and set off the passing sequence that led to Nathan MacKinnon's first-period tally. The defenseman has three assists in the last two games and inched closer to a third straight 50-point season. Toews has 43 points (11 goals, 32 assists) through 72 games.

Impact Rantanen redirected a pass from Devon Toews to Nathan MacKinnon for Colorado's lone goal just 43 seconds into the game. After having his 14-game point streak halted in Sunday's improbable comeback win over the Penguins, Rantanen hopes to begin a new one. He's up to 97 points through 72 games and is threatening last season's career-high 105 points.

Nathan MacKinnon - Strikes first in loss MacKinnon scored a goal on four shots and blocked one shot in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Montreal.

Impact MacKinnon put the Avalanche up, 1-0, 43 seconds into the first period, but that was the end of Colorado's offense. And, after the Canadiens scored twice later in the first period, the end of team's nine-game win streak. The tally extended MacKinnon's point streak to 19 games -- his second streak of that length -- and his home point streak to 35 games. Impact Fresh off signing a two-year extension with the Avs, Annunen turned in a solid performance Tuesday, holding the Canadiens to just a pair of first-period goals. However, Colorado could only muster a single goal of support on the other end, sticking Annunen with his first loss in over a month -- he'd gone 4-0-0 with a .959 save percentage in his previous four starts. The 24-year-old Annunen has been sharp behind Alexandar Georgiev this season -- he's now 5-3-1 with a .926 save percentage and 2.34 GAA on the campaign.
