Ilya Sorokin - First off Tuesday Sorokin was the first goaltender off at Tuesday's morning skate, which indicates he'll draw the home start versus Colorado on Tuesday, per Andrew Gross of Newsday.

Impact Sorokin was forced into action Saturday after Marcus Hogberg (upper body) was injured in overtime against the Hurricanes. Sorokin stopped the only shot he faced and was credited with the victory after Brock Nelson potted the game-winning goal. While Hogberg and Semyon Varlamov (lower body) are sidelined, Sorokin will handle the bulk of the starts -- Jakuk Skarek, who was recalled from AHL Bridgeport on Monday, will serve as the club's No. 2 netminder in the interim. Colorado is coming off a 5-4 win over the Rangers on Sunday.

Scott Perunovich - Acquired for fifth-round pick Perunovich was brought in via trade by the Islanders on Monday from the Blues in exchange for a 2026 conditional fifth-round pick.

Impact Perunovich's acquisition comes on the heels of both Noah Dobson (lower body) and Ryan Pulock (upper body) going on injured reserve over the last week. The Isles already attempted to bolster their blue line by bringing in Tony DeAngelo but now also have Perunovich as a seventh healthy option. The 26-year-old defenseman has been struggling to get into the lineup for the Blues, serving as a healthy scratch in 13 of the club's last 15 contests. That doesn't seem likely to change with the Islanders, though Perunovich could challenge Dennis Cholowskifor minutes.

Skarek has a 5-11-1 record with a 3.22 GAA and an .895 save percentage in 20 minor-league appearances this season. With the Islanders set to play four times in six days, here's a chance Skarek could make his NHL debut if Hogberg and Semyon Varlamov (lower body) remain unavailable. However, Ilya Sorokin will handle most of the starts.

Impact Based on his retroactive placement date (Jan. 25), Hogberg can be expected to miss at least the next three games for the Islanders, though it could certainly be longer. With Semyon Varlamov (lower body) still on the shelf, the team called up Jakub Skarek to serve as the No. 2 option behind Ilya Sorokin for the time being. It's a disappointing blow for the 30-year-old Hogberg, as he has managed decent numbers in his seven NHL appearances, going 2-2-0 with a 1.45 GAA and .947 save percentage.
