Impact Granlund was injured during Thursday's 4-1 loss to Vegas. He was moved to the injured reserve list Friday. The 31-year-old scored 10 goals and 41 points in 79 contests in 2022-23.

Impact Granlund was making his Sharks' debut when he sustained his undisclosed injury that was originally deemed precautionary. It seems those concerns were warranted as the Finn will now miss the next three contests at minimum after landing on IR. With Logan Couture (lower body), the Sharks are increasingly thin at center and may opt to shift Luke Kunin over from the wing.

The blueliner will have a chance to grow into a larger role at the NHL level this season, as the Sharks' defense corps has some established names but no true standout players. If he can work his way onto the first power-play unit, Thrun may be a solid waiver-wire option in fantasy.

Tomas Hertl - Offers helper in loss Hertl registered an assist, two hits and two blocked shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Golden Knights.

Impact Hertl helped out on Filip Zadina's first-period tally, which was all the Sharks could put past Logan Thompson. With Logan Couture (lower body) on injured reserve, Hertl is arguably the most established forward on the Sharks' roster. He's produced 60-plus points in three of the last five seasons, the two exceptions being the COVID-shortened campaigns. While he'll likely carry an ugly plus-minus rating, Hertl should still be productive enough to help in fantasy.

Impact Zadina's goal may have been about the only bright spot for the Sharks in this game. The 23-year-old was signed by the Sharks after he agreed to terminate his contract with the Red Wings. Zadina figures to get a larger opportunity in San Jose than he was ever afforded in Detroit, but how much that translates into production remains to be seen. He never posted more than 24 points in any of his five seasons with the Red Wings, but he's off to a solid start in 2023-24.

Kaapo Kahkonen - Yields four goals Kahkonen gave up four goals on 32 shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Golden Knights.

Impact Vegas didn't dominate the game by any means, but Kahkonen still gave up at least one goal in each period. The 27-year-old is expected to split the goaltending duties with Mackenzie Blackwood early in 2023-24. Kahkonen had an awful 9-20-7 record with a 3.85 GAA and an .883 save percentage in 37 games last season, so there's no guarantee he'll be able to take hold of the No. 1 job for a Sharks team that is expected to be among the worst in the league.
