Marshall Rifai - Shifts to waivers Rifai was put on waivers Sunday, according to Chris Johnston of The Athletic.
Impact Rifai supplied two goals and 19 points in 57 contests for AHL Toronto during the 2023-24 regular season. He could see playing time with the Maple Leafs in 2024-25, assuming he doesn't get claimed by another team.

Matt Murray - Goes on waivers Murray was moved to the waiver wire Sunday, per Chris Johnston of The Athletic.
Impact Murray agreed to a one-year, $875,000 contract with the Maple Leafs in July after being limited to three regular-season appearances with AHL Toronto in 2023-24 due to bilateral hip surgery. If he doesn't get claimed by another team, he will continue to work his way back in the minors.

Impact Marner came into camp focused and highly motivated and has looked great so far. Marner is in the last year of his contract and is prepared to negotiate during the season. He is in a position of strength in negotiations based on his Selke-caliber play and elite scoring. Marner has 639 points, including 194 goals, in 576 games since coming into the league in 2016-17.

Joseph Woll - Plays whole game for first time Woll made 18 saves in a 3-2 win over the Red Wings on Saturday.
Impact He played the whole game and was at his best during a five-on-three power play where the Red Wings buzzed the net. Woll had played only 31:45 in the previous five preseason games, with no explanation from new head coach Craig Berube on the reason. Woll is set to start the season in a 1A/1B platoon with newcomer Anthony Stolarz. His talent level should shine through and force more starts, as long as he stays healthy.

Auston Matthews - Back in action Saturday Matthews (upper body) picked a goal and added an assist on the power play in Saturday's 3-2 win over Detroit.
Impact Matthews had been sidelined for four games with the injury, but looked like he'd never skipped a beat. His slap shot tied the game in the second, and he found John Tavares in the slot and then acted as a screen on the winner early in the third. Matthews has put up at least 106 points in two of his last three seasons, and he came within a goal of the 70-goal threshold last season.
