Nick Lodolo - Leg still not 100 percent Reds manager David Bell said Friday that Lodolo is still not 100 percent and will have his injured left leg "re-scanned," Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact The southpaw missed much of the 2023 season with a stress reaction in his left tibia and he's still having trouble getting over the hump with the injury. While Lodolo is able to throw without issue, he "still feels it" in his leg the day after, per Bell. Being ready for the beginning of the season is still possible if Lodolo can be game-ready by the end of next week, but that looks to be very much in question.

Ian Gibaut - Iffy for Opening Day Reds manager David Bell said Friday that Gibaut (forearm) is progressing but isn't a lock to be ready by Opening Day, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Gibaut is working his way back from a pronator strain in his right forearm. While he is feeling better, he has yet to resume a throwing program. If healthy, Gibaut is projected for a middle relief role in Cincinnati.

Impact Reds manager David Bell noted that how Lodolo fares during the live BP session and, even more importantly, how he bounces back a day later, will go a long way in determining whether he'll be ready for Opening Day. The left-hander is being eased along this spring after he missed much of last season with a stress reaction in his left tibia.

Impact McLain has been doing lots of core/medicine ball work and soon will attempt to swing the bat with light intensity. We are six days into a projected 5-to-7 day timetable that Bell had provided for McLain, who tweaked his right oblique. It's uncertain as to when he might be cleared for Cactus League action, but that does not appear imminent.

Hunter Greene - Unveils two new pitches Greene allowed one hit and two walks while striking out four over 1.2 innings in a spring start Sunday against the Angels.
Impact Greene busted out a curveball and split-finger fastball during the outing, adding two new offerings to an arsenal that includes a four-seam fastball, slider and changeup, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. "I tried to keep it simple," Greene said. "I feel like I had a good feel for everything. Curveball was a little iffy, but as far as spring I will continue to work on it." He had been scheduled to pitch two innings but reached his pitch limit thanks to a long first inning that featured two walks and three strikeouts. The right-hander was exuberant about the state of the new split and will continue to hone it for Opening Day and beyond.
