Rhett Lowder - Saddled with tough-luck loss Lowder (1-2) was saddled with the loss Sunday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk across 5.1 innings against the Twins. He struck out five.

Impact Lowder entered the sixth with a one-run lead but was pulled after having allowed two batters to reach base with one out in the inning. Each of those baserunners later came around to score, saddling Lowder with two additional earned runs and saddling him with a tough-luck defeat. The 22-year-old rookie has been highly effective across four starts since earning the call from Triple-A, having allowed just one earned run prior to the three runs allowed Sunday. An encouraging trend is that he's also kept the walks in check, having allowed just one over his last two starts after allowing eight over his first two appearances. He's currently set up to make his next start in a home matchup against the Pirates.

Will Benson - Not starting Sunday Benson (finger) is absent from Sunday's lineup against the Twins.

Impact Benson is not starting for a third straight game after sustaining an injury to his left middle finger during Thursday's game against the Cardinals. He did enter Saturday's game against the Twins in the bottom of the seventh inning in right field, and he hit an RBI single in the eighth frame. Benson will likely be available out of the dugout for Sunday's series finale, and with the Reds scheduled for an off-day Monday, the 26-year-old could return to the lineup for Cincinnati's upcoming home series against Atlanta.

Noelvi Marte - Drives in two in win Marte went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 11-1 win over Minnesota.

Impact Marte, whose ground-rule double plated two during the Reds' nine-run fourth inning, entered the contest with just one RBI over the previous 13 games. Not much has gone right for him since returning from an 80-game suspension, and recently he's lost playing time to Santiago Espinal. Marte's played just seven of 13 games thus far in September.

Spencer Steer - Sets new high for RBI Steer went 1-for-4 with a walk, a double, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 11-1 win over the Twins.

Impact All of Steer's activity occurred during the Reds' nine-run fourth inning. He led off the frame with a walk and scored the first run, then doubled in a pair before trotting home on TJ Friedl's home run. The two runs driven in established a new career high of 88 RBI and were the first in 10 games for Steer, who entered the contest with just three RBI over the previous 17 games. Despite the lack of run production, Steer remains Cincinnati's leader in the category.

Jeimer Candelario - Could be done for season Candelario (toe) is unlikely to return and finish the season, MLB.com reports.

Impact Candelario, who was hit by a pitch during a game Aug. 18, landed on the injured list a couple of days later and has yet to resume baseball activities. Cincinnati manager David Bell said Saturday that it looks like Candelario will not be back this season, adding there is still pain in the toe. If that's it for Candelario, he'll finish his first season as a member of the Reds with 20 home runs, 56 RBI, four steals, 47 runs scored and a line of .225/.279/.429 over 112 games.

Nick Martinez - Picks up ninth win Martinez (9-6) earned the win Saturday against the Twins. He pitched six innings and allowed one run on three hits with six strikeouts.

Impact Martinez stayed hot on the mound with another solid showing and lowered his ERA to 3.37 for the season. Martinez shut down Atlanta with seven shutout innings in his last start, and he's now won three consecutive starts. The veteran right-hander was moved into the rotation on August 5th and has earned his spot by allowing one run or fewer in six of his nine starts in that span.

Impact Fraley continued a recent hot stretch at the plate since returning from a stint on the injured list due to a knee injury. After hitting 15 homers last season, Fraley has struggled in the power department, with just five home runs in 2024, but he has two over his last 13 games. The 29-year-old has started each of the Reds last 13 games and has a hit in 11 of those games with a .333 batting average in that span. Fraley picked up his fifth three-hit game of the season and raised his batting average to .280 in the process.
