Mike Moustakas - On bench against righty Moustakas will sit Tuesday against the Pirates.

Impact Moustakas has occupied the large side of a platoon at third base since returning from a heel injury in early August, but his off day here comes against righty Mitch Keller. His .208/.282/.372 season slash line arguably doesn't deserve even a platoon role, though Eugenio Suarez, who starts at the hot corner in his absence, is hitting just .179/.268/.390.

Impact The shortstop blasted a Kyle Keller curveball over the fence in seventh inning for his 15th homer of the season. He has at least one hit in 8 of his last nine games. Over those contests, Farmer has batted .314 with four extra-base hits and six RBI.

Eugenio Suárez - Goes deep in victory Suarez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's win over the Pirates.

Impact The third baseman took reliever Cody Ponce deep in the fifth inning, giving the Reds the lead. The homer marked his 27th of the year. In his last 9 games in the starting lineup, he has collected multiple hits four times. Since the beginning of the month, the 30-year-old has launched four home runs and raised his season batting average from .169 to .179.

Nick Castellanos - Three hits in win Castellanos went 3-for-5 with a double, three RBI and two runs in the win over the Pirates on Monday.

Impact The first baseman launched a two-run blast off of Dillon Peters in the third inning before going deep again in his next at-bat in the fifth. The two long balls put his season total at 33, his highest total since 2017. He has now reached base in seven straight contests while batting .444 with three home runs and five RBI over that stretch.

Vladimir Gutierrez - Chased in fourth Gutierrez tossed 3.1 innings giving up five runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out three in Monday's win over the Pirates. He didn't factor into the game's decision.

Impact The 26-year-old allowed consecutive home runs to Yoshi Tsutsugo and Bryan Reynolds in the first inning and didn't really recover after that, surrendering three more runs in the third inning. He gave up five runs for the second time in five starts. After posting six straight quality starts from July 27 to Aug. 22, Gutierrez has struggled to an 8.84 ERA and 1.75 WHIP in 18.1 innings over his last five outings.

Impact Kolozsvary will assume the 40-man roster spot and 28-man active roster spot of Tyler Stephenson, who was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday, presumably for reasons related to COVID-19. The Reds are expected to lean heavily on No. 1 backstop Tucker Barnhart while Stephenson is out, likely leaving Kolozsvary to pick up one or two starts per week. Between stops at Louisville and Double-A Chattanooga in 2021, the 26-year-old backstop slashed .219/.327/.411 with seven home runs in 55 games.
