Hunter Greene - Reaches innings limit Greene has reached his innings limit and will not pitch again this season, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Impact The decision ends any hope of Greene making his big-league debut this season, though that was always a longshot at best. The 22-year-old will end the year having produced a 3.30 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 21 starts at the two highest levels of the minors, striking out 31.7 percent of opposing batters while walking 8.9 percent. It was a very encouraging season for the 2017 second-overall pick, who missed two straight seasons due to Tommy John and the coronavirus pandemic. He set himself up well to push for his major-league debut next season.

Impact Naquin's bruised ribs have kept him out of action since Saturday, though the transaction can only be backdated by three days. That leaves him eligible to return next Friday, though it's not yet clear if he's expected to do so. Jesse Winker (ribs) returned from the injured list to take Naquin's place on the roster.

The right-hander quickly minimized the threat, however, leading him to convert his eighth save out of night tries since joining the Reds in July. In that span, Given has compiled a 3.06 ERA and 1.36 ERA across 17.2 innings.

Impact Winker has been out for just over a month while battling an intercostal strain. He's gone 0-for-5 in a pair of rehab games thus far, but the Reds have started losing ground in a very tight playoff race and may decide that he's their best option even if he hasn't quite found his groove yet.
