Jackson Wolf - MLB debut coming Saturday Wolf will be called up to make his major-league debut in a start Saturday at Detroit, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Impact It had already been reported that Wolf was being promoted, but now he's officially locked in as the Padres' starter Saturday against the Tigers. The 24-year-old left-hander has posted a strong 3.39 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 104:20 K:BB in 85 innings (17 starts) this season with Double-A San Antonio and is probably worth an immediate try in fantasy against a Detroit team that ranks 28th in team OPS at .667. Wolf was a fourth-round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft out of West Virginia University.

Michael Wacha - Likely out until August Wacha (shoulder) has resumed playing catch, but manager Bob Melvin said the hurler is unlikely to return to the Padres in July, Sammy Levitt of 97.3 The Fan San Diego reports.

Impact Wacha is expected to throw on flat ground a few more times before getting on a mound, and he may need a rehab assignment after that since he hasn't pitched in a game since July 1. The right-hander had his turn skipped in the rotation prior to that July 1 start due to the same shoulder issue that resulted in his placement on the IL, so he's thrown from a mound just once over the past month. Melvin mentioned the Padres' approach of extending the pitcher's return timeframe in order to ensure that they "get a healthy Michael Wacha."

Jackson Wolf - Could make debut Saturday Wolf could make his major-league debut for the Padres on Saturday in Detroit, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Impact The Padres currently don't have a starter listed for Saturday's contest and Wolf was spotted in their clubhouse Friday, which would seem to all but confirm he'll be the guy to take the ball. Wolf has posted a 3.39 ERA and 104:20 K:BB over 85 innings covering 17 starts with Double-A San Antonio this season. It's possible he could make additional starts, depending on Michael Wacha's (shoulder) availability.

Blake Snell - Hit with tough loss Snell (6-8) took the loss Thursday, allowing one run on five hits and seven walks over five innings against the Blue Jays. He struck out four.

Impact Snell managed to limit the Blue Jays to one run over five frames despite issuing a season-high seven walks.
