Bryce Miller - Will get multiple starts Miller will become a member of the Seattle rotation and make multiple starts for the Mariners after he's promoted Tuesday, Corey Brock of The Athletic reports.

Impact Miller will make his MLB debut against the A's on Tuesday, and it won't be a one-time appearance for the right-hander. The 24-year-old right-hander is considered the best pitching prospect in the Mariners' system, and he's coming off a start for Double-A Arkansas where he allowed just one hit and one run while striking out five over five innings. Because of his inexperience Miller does offer some volatility, but there's plenty of reward that comes with his risk.

Diego Castillo - Moved off 40-man roster The Mariners outrighted Castillo to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday after he cleared waivers.

Impact After he had been one of Seattle's top relievers since he was acquired from the Rays at the 2021 trade deadline, Castillo struggled mightily over the first month of the 2023 campaign, logging a 6.23 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 7:7 K:BB in 8.2 innings before he was optioned to Triple-A on Saturday. Because Castillo is due $2.95 million in 2023 and has one more year of arbitration remaining, none of MLB's other 29 organizations were willing to put in a waiver claim for the 29-year-old right-hander. Though he no longer possesses a spot on the 40-man roster, Castillo could end up getting another look with the big club this season if he's able to right the ship at Tacoma.

Bryce Miller - Set to debut Tuesday Miller will be called up from Double-A Arkansas to make his major-league debut Tuesday against the Athletics, Joe Doyle of FutureStarsSeries.com reports.

Impact Miller has struggled overall this season with Arkansas in posting a 6.41 ERA over his first four starts. His last outing was his best, though, as he allowed just one hit and one run while fanning five over five innings. Miller had a breakout 2022 campaign which saw him hold a 3.16 ERA and 163:46 K:BB over 133.2 innings. It's unclear whether this will be just a spot start or he could stick around a while, but there should theoretically be an opening with Robbie Ray (elbow) done for the season.

Paul Sewald - Gets second win Sunday Sewald (2-0) recorded the win in an extra-inning victory over the Blue Jays on Sunday, firing a scoreless ninth inning during which he allowed a hit and a walk.

Impact Tasked with preserving an 8-8 tie when he entered in the ninth, Sewald successfully got the Mariners to extra innings despite having to work around some trouble. The right-hander was pitching on consecutive days for the first time since April 7-8, and he's essentially picked up where he left off during his successful 2022 -- Sewald has seven saves in addition to his two wins, and Sunday's scoreless effort helped lower his ERA back down to an even 3.00 after he'd recently allowed an earned run apiece in back-to-back outings on April 22 and Tuesday.

Teoscar Hernández - Slugs seventh homer Sunday Hernandez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a hit-by-pitch and an additional run scored in an extra-inning win over the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Impact Hernandez launched one of four Mariners homers against his old squad in the high-scoring slugfest. The veteran's 371-foot shot to right center in the sixth inning began Seattle's comeback from an 8-4 deficit and snapped an 0-for-16 funk he'd been mired in over the previous four games, a span in which he'd struck out 11 times.

Taylor Trammell - Belts grand slam in win Trammell, just activated from the injured list earlier in the day, went 1-for-4 with a grand slam and a walk in an extra-inning win over the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Impact Trammell got Seattle's offensive fireworks started with his 359-foot laser in the first with the trio of Jarred Kelenic, Cal Raleigh and Teoscar Hernandez aboard. Trammell's first at-bat of 2023 clearly couldn't have gone any better, but it bears mentioning his trademark troubles making consistent contact at the big-league level surfaced in later in the game -- he struck out in two other plate appearances.

Cal Raleigh - Belts pair of homers Sunday Raleigh went 2-for-4 with a pair of two-run home runs, a walk and an additional run in an extra-inning win over the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Impact On a prolific afternoon for the Mariners offense, Raleigh was the biggest beneficiary. The hard-hitting backstop's pair of round trippers both came at critical times as well, with his eighth-inning shot to right center plating Jarred Kelenic to bring Seattle within a run and his 408-foot blast to right in the 10th snapping an 8-8 tie and eventually proving to be the game-winning hit. Raleigh pushed his OPS over the .800 threshold (.801) with Sunday's power breakout, and he now has eight RBI in the last nine contests.

Impact Paul Sewald pitched a scoreless ninth to send the game into extras, and with Andres Munoz (shoulder) still on the injured list, Brash was given his fourth save opportunity of the season after Seattle scored two runs in the top of the 10th. The right-hander was able secure his first save despite giving up a single to George Springer and recored multiple strikeouts for a ninth time this season. Brash has three blown saves and an ERA of 4.85, but his 26:5 K:BB through 13 innings is encouraging.

The left-hander had been solid over his previous three starts after a shaky opening to the campaign, but Sunday's performance was his worst outing thus far and lowered his ERA to from 3.32 to 4.74. Things don't get easier for Gonzales, whose next start is scheduled during a three-game set with the Astros.
