Paul Sewald - Grabs fifth win Saturday Sewald (5-4) got the win over the Royals on Saturday, firing two scoreless innings during which he allowed one hit.

Impact Sewald breezed through his pair of frames, during which he preserved a 5-5 tie, on just 17 pitches. The right-hander was then rewarded for his efficient and mistake-free work when Cal Raleigh laced a go-ahead double in the ninth that would give the Mariners a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Sewald has 19 saves on the season as well, but Andres Munoz, who got the ninth-inning call Saturday, also remains a viable candidate for such opportunities over the final week-plus of the season.

Jesse Winker - Productive as in-game replacement Winker entered Saturday's win over the Royals as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning and remained in the game as the designated hitter, going 2-for-3 with a run.

Impact Winker delivered the first of two singles upon being called on to hit for Luis Torrens, coming around to score on Cal Raleigh's 444-foot shot to right a batter later. Cal Raleigh - Doesn't start but plays hero Raleigh went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and three total RBI in Saturday's 6-5 win against Kansas City.

Impact Curt Casali got the start behind the plate for Seattle, but Raleigh came in to pinch hit for his fellow backstop in the sixth inning. The substitution paid immediate dividends, as Raleigh blasted a 444-foot two-run homer to right field to tie the score 5-5. He came through in the clutch again in the ninth inning, knocking a run-scoring double to plate the winning run. Raleigh leads all major-league catchers with 25 homers on the season and ranks sixth at the position with 59 RBI.

Andrés Muñoz - Secures fourth save Munoz earned a save against the Royals on Saturday, allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning.

The right-hander had struck out nine or more batters in three of his previous four starts but punched out only three Royals on Saturday. Gilbert also saw his six-game stretch of allowing two or fewer earned runs come to an end, though Seattle's offense helped him avoid taking a loss. He still owns a strong 3.29 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 13-6 record in his second major-league campaign.

Luis Castillo - Signs five-year extension Castillo and the Mariners agreed to terms on a five-year, $108 million extension Saturday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Castillo was due to become a free agent after the 2023 season, but he'll now be under contract through 2027, and potentially 2028 thanks to a vesting option. The deal is excellent news for Castillo's long-term fantasy value, as it means he's now set to remain in one of the best pitchers' parks in the league for the foreseeable future. He's certainly enjoyed his time in Seattle thus far, posting a 2.83 ERA and a 29.1 percent strikeout rate in his first nine starts as a Mariner.
