Abraham Toro - Snaps slump with multi-hit effort Toro went 2-for-4 with a double in a loss to the Royals on Friday.

Impact Toro had been mired in an 0-for-11 slump over his previous four games and hadn't generated a multi-hit effort since Aug. 31. The 25-year-old's .181/.234/.319 slash line is a profound disappointment, but some of Toro's complementary metrics belie those numbers to an extent -- he's been saddled with a dismal .192 BABIP, produced a modest 17.6 percent strikeout rate and laced 23 of his 55 hits for extra bases.

Marco Gonzales - Gives up three in loss Gonzales (10-15) gave up three earned runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out two over five innings to take the loss in a 5-1 defeat against the Royals on Friday.

Impact Gonzales chalked up an unremarkable performance which led to his 15th loss of the season and raised his ERA to 4.05. He has now given up eight earned runs over his last two appearances after stringing together four quality starts in a row. The main problem with Gonzales is that his stuff simply isn't good enough to miss many bats. The 30-year-old left-hander has 94 strikeouts in 171 innings pitched this season. He is tentatively expected to take his next turn in the rotation in an appearance against the Rangers.

Impact Raleigh's performance at the plate was a microcosm of his entire season: plenty of strikeouts combined with above-average power. The 25-year-old catcher has the second-most home runs hit from the position this year behind only Daulton Varsho. However, he also came into Friday night's game with an awful strikeout rate of 28.8%.

Taylor Trammell - Back in big leagues Trammell was recalled by the Mariners on Friday.

Impact Trammell was sent down in favor of Jarred Kelenic on Wednesday but returns just two days later with Julio Rodriguez (back) landing on the injured list. The fact that Kelenic took Trammell's place on the roster suggests that it's the former who could be the primary beneficiary of Rodriguez's absence, but Trammell could still earn the occasional start.

Impact The 21-year-old exited Thursday's matchup with Oakland during the first inning due to lower-back tightness, which is the same injury that sidelined him last weekend. Rodriguez missed three games after the injury cropped up Saturday, though he never underwent medical imaging before he returned to action Tuesday. Given he's undergoing an MRI, Rodriguez shouldn't be expected to be in the lineup for Friday's contest in Kansas City. Jarred Kelenic and Sam Haggerty should have increased roles for Seattle while Rodriguez is unavailable.
