Impact After grounding out in his first two at-bats, Moore walked, stole a base and scored in the sixth and singled, swiped second and scored in the eighth. He is now 18-for-24 in stolen base attempts on the season and has nabbed three bags since returning from an oblique injury Sept. 18. Since the All-Star break, he has a .295/.426/.477 line in 54 plate appearances.

George Kirby - Can't get out of third inning Kirby allowed five runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out one in 2.1 innings in a 9-5 win Thursday in Oakland. He did not factor into the decision.

Impact Kirby was in trouble throughout the start as he allowed multiple baserunners in each inning he pitched. He managed to keep a run from scoring in the first two innings but allowed six of the seven batters he faced in the third to reach safely with five eventually crossing home plate. It was his shortest outing of the season and just the second time in his last 13 starts that he allowed more than two runs. His next start will likely be in the middle of next week against Texas.

Julio Rodríguez - Dealing with low back tightness Rodriguez exited Thursday's game against Oakland in the bottom of the first inning due to low back tightness.

Impact Rodriguez exited with a trainer in the bottom of the first inning Thursday and has been diagnosed with the same issue that forced him to miss three games last weekend. The severity of his current injury isn't yet clear, but Jarred Kelenic, Dylan Moore and Sam Haggerty are candidates to see increased playing time if Rodriguez is forced to miss additional time.

Gabriel Gonzalez - Solid following promotion Gonzalez hit .286/.400/.389 with two home runs and four steals in 32 games to close out the season after being promoted to Single-A Modesto.

Impact It's a bit of an empty batting line, as his pop didn't translate in this initial exposure to A ball, but Gonzalez showed terrific on-base skills nonetheless. Just 18 years old, he's a long way from the big leagues, but he'll be able to accelerate his timeline if he can show more power in game action next year. He'll presumably open 2023 back in Single-A.

Harry Ford - Strong first full pro season Ford appeared in 104 games for Single-A Modesto in 2022, batting .274/.425/.438 with 11 home runs, 23 steals and an 88:115 BB:K.

Impact The 2021 first-rounder impressed all year long with his plate discipline and baserunning, though he did fall a bit short in the power department. Ford started the season cold, hitting just .196 over his first 38 games, but from June 12 through the end of the campaign, he put up a sparkling .320/.459/.530 line. Look for the 19-year-old backstop to open next season with High-A Everett.

Erik Swanson - Allows two runs in loss Swanson (2-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Athletics. He allowed two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out zero over zero innings.

Impact It was a disastrous outing for Swanson, who failed to record an out after being called upon in the bottom of the seventh. He surrendered a leadoff walk to Jordan Diaz to begin the inning and then allowed back-to-back hits to put the Mariners down 0-2 before getting pulled. After not allowing a run through all of August, Swanson has now allowed four runs in September but still sports a solid 1.49 ERA and 0.89 WHIP on the season.
