Evan White - On injured list as expected White (groin) hit the 10-day injured list Friday.

Impact White underwent surgery for a sports hernia in late March. His recovery timeline remains unclear. The fact that he hit the 10-day injured list rather than the 60-day could indicate that the Mariners expect him healthy before early June, though the team could of course shift him to the 60-day injured list whenever they need to open a 40-man roster spot.

Impact Giles came into camp ready to go after missing nearly two years with Tommy John surgery, but he'll have to wait even longer to make his debut due to a tendon injury in his right middle finger. He's been shut down for a few weeks and does not have a clear timetable for his return.

Kyle Lewis - Hits injured list Lewis (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Impact Lewis is still working his way back from surgery to repair a torn meniscus, a procedure he underwent last May. The Mariners had said early in camp that he wasn't expected to be ready for Opening Day, and that's in fact what ended up happening, but he's been taking steps in the right direction, so his absence may not be a long one. He'll return to a very crowded outfield, as the Mariners acquired Jesse Winker from the Reds in March and promoted 21-year-old phenom Julio Rodriguez to the Opening Day roster, but he has a strong enough bat to carve out a role once he proves his health.

Impact The Mariners will carry three catchers to start the year, but it's Raleigh who will get the nod in Seattle's first game over Tom Murphy and Luis Torrens. Raleigh is a fairly interesting prospect but struggled to a .180/.223/.309 line in his 47-game MLB debut last year after posting a far superior .324/.377/.608 line in 44 games for Triple-A Tacoma. His underlying numbers in the majors suggest he deserved that poor performance, as he combined a 35.1 percent strikeout rate with a 4.7 percent walk rate, but the Mariners clearly believe he'll do better going forward.

Impact Rodriguez's huge talent and dominant spring convinced the Mariners to include him on the Opening Day roster despite the fact that he's just 21 years old and has yet to play above Double-A. While he'll bat in the bottom third for now, it's not out of the question that he moves up the lineup quickly if he gets off to a hot start.

J.P. Crawford - Inks $51 million deal with Seattle Crawford agreed to a five-year, $51 million contract extension with the Mariners on Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Crawford had already avoided arbitration with the Mariners for 2022 by agreeing to a one-year, $4.85 million deal, but the new deal will take effect for this season while buying out two years of free agency. The 27-year-old has settled in as Seattle's everyday shortstop over the past three years, and in 2021 he hit .273/.338/.376 with nine home runs, 37 doubles, 89 runs, 54 RBI and three stolen bases over 160 games.

Impact Kaminsky spent the 2021 season with the Phillies, though he threw only one inning due to an elbow injury. Matt Festa - Makes Opening Day roster The Mariners purchased Festa's contract Thursday and he is on the Opening Day roster.

Impact Festa was reassigned to minor-league camp on March 29, though the team will soon shift Casey Sadler (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list. In turn, that will open a spot on the 40-man roster and in the big-league bullpen for Festa. He hasn't pitched in the majors since 2019, though he managed a 2.95 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with a 31:3 K:BB across 21.1 innings with Triple-A Tacoma in 2021.
