Dylan Carlson - Scratched from lineup Carlson was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Mets due to a left elbow contusion, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
Impact Carlson was hit by a pitch during Friday's contest, and the damage was apparently severe enough to keep him out of the lineup for a day. He'll be replaced in right field by Brendan Donovan, moving Nolan Gorman to second base and allowing Alec Burleson to step in as St. Louis' designated hitter Saturday. Carlson should be considered day-to-day going forward.

Willson Contreras - Slugs eighth homer Contreras went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-1 loss to the Mets.
Impact He spoiled New York's shutout bid by taking Tylor Megill deep in the fifth inning, but not much else went right for St. Louis in this one. Contreras had gone just 3-for-30 to begin June, and the multi-hit performance was his first since May 18. The veteran catcher does have eight homers and five steals in 64 games this season, but his .204/.296/.363 slash line has him on pace for career-worst numbers in all three categories.

Miles Mikolas - Ambushed by Mets Mikolas (4-4) took the loss Friday, coughing up six runs on eight hits and a walk over six innings as the Cardinals fell 6-1 to the Mets. He struck out one.
Impact Only two of the hits off the right-hander went for extra bases, including a Daniel Vogelbach solo shot in the sixth inning, but the singles came in bunches for the Mets as they scored three runs in the first and two more in the third. Mikolas has been tagged for 11 runs in 12 innings over his last two starts on the heels of a 10-start stretch in which he sported a 2.24 ERA, but he'll look to get back on track when he next takes the mound, which could happen on the road next week against the Nationals.

Impact O'Neill has also been able to do light agility and running drills as he tries to finally get over the hump in his recovery from a lingering back injury. He went on the 10-day injured list May 5 and was transferred Friday to the 60-day injured list. The best-case target for his return to the Cardinals is early July.

Tyler O'Neill - Shifted to 60-day IL The Cardinals transferred O'Neill (back) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Impact O'Neill landed on the injured list May 5, so his move to the 60-day IL will keep him out until at least July 4. His 40-man roster spot will be filled by Richie Palacios, who was acquired from Cleveland in a trade Friday.
