Allmendinger to claim an impressive fifth-place finish when an accident and caution would bring the race to an end. It was Bowman's first-career Daytona Top 5 and fourth-career Daytona Top 10.

Impact This is big news out of the Hendrick Motorsports camp. Primary sponsor, Ally Financial, has extended with the team for five years. In addition, Bowman has signed an extension of three years to remain in the team's No. 48 Chevrolet. This is great news for the veteran driver, but now the pressure to perform is looming. Bowman's one win and 12 Top-10 finishes last season were good for only 16th-place in the final standings, last of the playoff drivers.
