Impact This news fresh off Suarez and the No. 99 team's victory at Sonoma this past week comes as little surprise. The journeyman driver seems to have found a home with Trackhouse after bouncing around earlier in his Cup Series career. Suarez seems to be safe in terms of contract negotiation with the team and will likely be announced as an extension sometime during the summer.

Wins Toyota/Save Mart 350 Suarez won the Toyota / Save Mart 350 NASCAR Cup Series race at Sonoma Raceway Sunday afternoon.

Impact The Trackhouse Racing veteran turned in a surprising performance Sunday at the California road circuit. Suarez led 47 laps and set the pace most of the day. He would have to rise late and re-take the lead for the final time on lap 85. Suarez would lead the final 26 laps at Sonoma and cruise to a near 4-second victory over Chris Buescher. It was his first-career Cup Series win in his 195th start.

Replaces Hocevar Suarez will take over driving duties for Carson Hocevar two laps into Saturday's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Sonoma, Austin Konenski of Sportsnaut.com reports.

Impact Suarez will pilot the No. 42 truck for the remainder of Saturday's event in place of Hocevar, who suffered a scary ankle injury during last Saturday's race at Gateway. The injured driver was recently cleared to drive after a successful practice lap at Sonoma Raceway, but does not appear healthy enough to compete for the entirety of Saturday's race. According to Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports, Suarez's performance will net Hocevar the appropriate points reflective of the replacement driver's finish, though Hocevar will not receive any playoff points based on the outcome of Saturday's race.

Changes transaxle Suarez will start Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Gateway at the rear for unapproved adjustments, Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports reports.

Impact The team had an issue with the transmission sticking so they elected to change the transaxle. This is a tough race to have to start at the back. Drivers have talked about how difficult it has been to pass at Gateway and this race is pretty short as well. Crew chief Travis Mack will likely have to come up with some strategy if Suarez ever wants to have track position.
