Michael Carter II - Dealing with ankle injury Head coach Robert Saleh told reporters Wednesday that Carter is dealing with an ankle issue, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Saleh added that he's not worried about Carter's ankle injury, so we could see the 25-year-old cornerback return to the field soon. Carter recorded 50 total tackles and nine passes defended across 17 regular-season games in 2023. Once he returns to full health, the Duke product is expected to remain a rotational corner in the Jets' secondary.

Anthony Firkser - Links up with Gang Green The Jets signed Firkser to a contract Tuesday, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.

Impact After being let go by the Patriots during training camp last August, Firsker caught on with the Lions' practice squad in October. He appeared in the Lions' final five games of the season, including their three playoff games after Sam LaPorta injured his knee in Week 18. Firkser's ability to play both tight end and fullback could give him a leg up on tight ends Kenny Yeboah and Zack Kuntz to make the 53-man roster.

Aaron Rodgers - Preseason action unlikely Coach Robert Saleh indicated Tuesday that he doesn't think Rodgers will play during the preseason, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.

Impact Rodgers won't see action in either of the Jets' first two preseason contests, while Rich Cimini of ESPN.com relays that the coach's instinct at this time is to not play the veteran QB in the team's Aug. 24 preseason finale against the Giants either. Given the fact that Rodgers is returning from an Achilles injury, it's not surprising that caution is being exercised. The 40-year-old is still on track to helm New York's offense in Week 1 against the 49ers.

Impact The San Diego State product had been sidelined with an undisclosed injury of late, but he's now passed his physical and moved past the issue. Bawden appeared in 16 regular-season games with the Jets last season, and he's expected to remain New York's top fullback once again in 2024.
