Impact Mclain's recovery from an offseason surgery on his left shoulder was derailed in early August when he sustained a stress reaction in his rib cage. He was temporarily shut down from baseball activities and his rehab assignment scheduled to begin Aug. 12 was cancelled. However, he's back to swinging a bat and participating in other drills. The Reds haven't announced a new date for McLain to start his minor-league rehab assignment, and he shouldn't be expected back until September.
