Crash and DNF in Daytona 500 Elliott crashed and finished 38th in the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway Sunday evening. Impact The race would stay pretty clean until lap 119. Elliott would be racing among the leaders and looking in good shape. However, that would all change when Kevin Harvick made contact with the rear of Tyler Reddick's car sending him spinning out of control. The ensuing chaos would roll up a total of eight cars, with Elliott's No. 9 Chevrolet taking a hard impact in the front and driver's side. The damage would be terminal and Elliott would have to retire for the day. The DNF in the Daytona 500 was a disappointing way for the Hendrick Motorsports star to kick off the season.
