Impact Dunn has yet to begin a minor-league rehab assignment as he works his way back from a right rotator cuff injury, but the Reds have already identified Sept. 11 as a tentative target date for his reinstatement. Though the Reds are sorely lacking in rotation depth, the 27-year-old won't have sufficient time to get stretched out for a starting role and will instead prepare for a relief gig to expedite his return to the big leagues. Dunn is expected to face hitters in live batting practice as soon as Tuesday and could be cleared to report to a minor-league affiliate the following week, per MLB.com.

Vladimir Gutierrez - Advances rehab to Triple-A Gutierrez (elbow) moved his rehab assignment to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday, striking out two and walking two over two no-hit scoreless innings.
Impact Gutierrez began his rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on July 28 but was cleared to join the Reds' top affiliate after a pair of one-inning scoreless appearances. The Reds are tentatively targeting Aug. 25 for Gutierrez's return from the 60-day injured list, with manager David Bell telling Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer that the right-hander will work out of the bullpen once activated.

Alex Young - Battling back spasms Young was removed in the eighth inning of his relief appearance in Sunday's 6-3 loss to the Nationals due to back spasms, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Young faced three batters, striking out one and allowing one run on one hit and one walk in the 16-pitch appearance. The Reds will likely wait a day or two and see how he recovers from the back issue before determining whether or not Young requires a stint on the 15-day injured list.

Impact Young entered the contest in the top of the eighth and was expected to work for the entire inning, but he was pulled from the contest after issuing a leadoff walk and then striking out a batter. He appeared to suffer an injury on his final pitch of the day, but the Reds haven't provided a diagnosis yet.

Lyon Richardson - Called up for MLB debut The Reds recalled Richardson from Triple-A Louisville ahead of his scheduled start Sunday versus the Nationals in Cincinnati.
Impact Cincinnati optioned right-handed reliever Daniel Duarte to Triple-A to open up a spot on the 26-man active roster for Richardson, who will be making his MLB debut Sunday. Though he'll be joining the rotation as a replacement for the injured Ben Lively (pectoral), Richardson may not be trusted with working deep enough into the contest to qualify for the win. Richardson turned in a tidy 1.86 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over 19 outings this season across Louisville, Double-A Chattanooga and High-A Dayton, but he never covered more than four innings in any start.

Derek Law - Saves bullpen in loss Law allowed one hit over 2.1 scoreless innings in Saturday's 7-3 loss to Washington.
Impact Law, who entered with the Reds down 6-0, ate up seven outs between the sixth and eighth innings. The right-hander has worked largely in middle relief for the Reds and posted a 3.68 ERA in 14.2 innings since his return from the injured list in early July.
