Impact Before rain descended on Busch Stadium, Mikolas was on his way to a strong start, as he struck out two over three perfect innings. Fantasy managers who deployed Mikolas in weekly lineups should see his statistics from Friday show up once the suspended game is completed Saturday, but the right-hander won't be able to qualify for the win even though the Cardinals held a 1-0 lead at the time play was suspended. Mikolas' workload from Friday will also take him out of the mix for pitching again this weekend, but he looks like he'll be ready to go on three days' rest Monday if the Cardinals elect to go that route.

Adam Wainwright - Throwing off mound Monday Wainwright (shoulder) will begin throwing off a mound Monday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Impact After receiving multiple injections in his right shoulder, Wainwright is now set to begin working toward a return. Manager Oliver Marmol said the goal is for Wainwright to return as a starter, so he will likely require multiple rehab starts in the minors down the line in order to build his arm back up. The veteran righty holds a 7.66 ERA and 1.99 WHIP across 51.2 innings over 11 starts this season.

Andre Pallante - Opening Game 1 on Saturday Pallante will open Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against Washington, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Impact After Friday's game was suspended during the third inning, Pallante will take the mound once action resumes Saturday. The 24-year-old righty has pitched at least two innings just once this season, so he'll presumably be relieved relatively quickly.

Impact Because Friday's game against Washington was suspended during the third inning, Naile will come up to serve as the extra man in St. Louis' bullpen for Game 2. Naile has surrendered 10 runs over 7.2 innings in the majors this season while walking seven batters and striking out four.

Impact Given the Cardinals' thin starting pitching depth along with the fact that Matz struck out nine while allowing an unearned run over 5.1 innings in his outing last Sunday against the White Sox, it's not surprisingly that he'll be making a second straight turn through the rotation. Despite his excellent showing his last time out, Matz is still sitting on an 0-7 record, 4.65 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in 71.2 innings this season, so he's still tough to rely on a streaming option even in what profiles as a strong matchup on paper. To Matz's credit, he's been far more effective while working primarily as a reliever since the beginning of June, pitching to a 1.93 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 20:5 K:BB in 18.2 innings over the past six weeks.
