Siakam leads Aggies past Tennessee Tech
LAS CRUSES, N.M. -- Pascal Siakam scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead New Mexico State to a 76-63 win over Tennessee Tech on Wednesday night.
The Aggies (2-1) were 32 of 64 from the floor for 50 percent and also hit half of their 12 3-point attempts. They were only 6 of 15 from the free-throw line. They outrebounded the Golden Eagles, who came in with a plus-8.5 rebounding edge, 49-28.
Tennessee Tech (1-2) had an 8-point lead with 4:47 in the first half before the Aggies closed the margin to three, 36-33, by halftime. A 19-6 run, including 6 points from Siakam, to open the second half gave the Aggies a 52-42 lead. They led by 15 late.
Torrance Rowe scored 13 points and Josiah Moore scored 10 for the Golden Eagles, who shot only 38.6 percent from the floor, including 7 of 23 from 3-point range.
